Our Story

About Us

Maddie was born on easter sunday of 1999 in Tarlac City, Philippines. Before moving to Zurich, she was an Instructor and project assistant at the Geology Department at the University of the Philippines.

Damian was born in 1992 in Quezon City, Philippines. He had finished his PhD in Physics at the same University before landing the postdoc position at ETH Zurich.

How We Met

We first met on 20 October 2022 at Tannenbar, at ETH Zurich. Maddie was a very busy and diligent master's student at the time, so she was not able to stay long. To make up for it, she organised a dinner at her place on 29 October, and afterwards invited Damian to join her singing at Guthirt in Zug the following day. That is how our friendship started.

Fast forward to May 2023, after several choir sessions and other friend outings, Damian finally mustered the courage to tell Maddie how he felt. To his (pleasant) surprise, Maddie felt the same way. Since then, a lot of things happened. They've been going on trips together around Switzerland and neighboring European countries. They have also been cursed blessed with a cat named Potchi (short for Cappuccino).

Common Likes & Interests

We love to travel, explore new places and discover favourite spots together. Luckily, Maddie's work brings her to lots of places, so Damian loves to tag along and travel around the world with her.

Closer to home, we like outdoor activities around our neighbourhood: cycling along the Limmat, swimming at Werdinsel, heading to Lake Zurich for SUP sessions, or just trying to get our cat to walk around the neighbourhood with us.

When we are not outdoors, a typical weekend has us on the couch watching movies and series together, or singing karaoke to ourselves once in a while. We love cooking at home, and hunting for good Asian restaurants around Zurich.
